Summer Program – Kinship Day

KIAHNNA KEY, FOUNDER OF KINSHIP DAY IS A SCION OF WOMEN ORGANIZING WOMEN, INC.

Summer program efforts to impact the inner city communities of Northwest Indiana is a direct result of fundraising efforts through “Kinship Day (K- Day)” a fundraiser dinner and silent/ live auction held in the spring of every year. This event is the vision of an Alumni of Educational Talent Search, Kiahnna Key who wanted to give back to the village that help raise her as a child.

Educational Talent Search Program identifies and assist individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. Some of the services include but are not limited to mentoring programs, assistance in preparing for college entrance exams, exposure to college campuses, and tutorial services just to name a few. Their goal is to increase the number of youth from disadvantaged backgrounds who complete high school and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education.

Sponsorships, Donations and Gifts raised during K-Day will support current students of Educational Talent Search by providing the means to acquire much needed materials for the Trio Minority Science Program. The purpose of this program offered by Trio is to encourage and support students to go in to the fields of science, engineering and technology as well as mentor them throughout the educational journey.

Our goal is to raise five thousand dollars annually and in order to reach our goal, we are asking for sponsorship from local businesses and individuals such as yourself. It would be a tremendous help to our fund-raising efforts if you would be willing to contribute. We are raising funds through donations of gifts, gift cards and/or monetary contributions from organizations that have a similar vision of community building. It is our humble request to you, to support us in our efforts for this noble cause.

Best Regards
